Family history
Mckenzy was born in Paris, where his mother's family had spent several generations. His father was an officer in the marines, though this line of work occasionally had the family wondering, as he would often be called on assignments alone. While many couldn't be bothered with theorising, Mckenzy often wondered just where his father went when he wasn't at home or with the marines. That question was answered very quickly, however, when he was permited to accompany his father on assignment to Deep Space 5. The assignment, he would later learn was part of a string of intelligence movemence in the sector, was to have lasted 3 years, though Mckenzy would have more than likely returned to Earth long before then to attend the accademy. Unfortunately, Michael's cover was blown, and to this day how is unclear, though it is suspected someone in starfleet had a hand in it. Michael subsequently didn't survive the mission, and even after the news of it reached Earth, Thom spoke nothing of it.
What he was able to take from his travels with his father, however, he credits more so to the questionable and often barely legal company he kept, both on DS5 and on Earth. When not occupied with his studies, something his mother as a Starfleet officer made sure he was often, he was doing exactly what he shouldn't, and occasionally being brought home by the nearest security officer. His entire focus changed however after his father's death. Hence his joining Starfleet. As far as those around him are made aware, he joined for the same reason they did--to protect their homes, and contribute to the defence of what they believe. He, however, is motivated by one thing: justice. He knew an officer in the fleet was the cause for the boched mission. He has therefore taken it upon himself to make things right, or die trying.
Education
Prior to the accademy, Mckenzy had done just what he had to to get himself out of highschool. Not one for overachieving, he simply wanted to get it over with, and get on with his life. That changed, however, after the death of his father, and he applied to the accademy, flying through most of the hands-on courses--mainly due to the skills he's picked up from his partners in crime, as many had affectionately termed them (although in some cases, it might be considered an accurate term). the more accademic courses, however, were something he struggled through for most of his accademy years, except the final one, though he inwardly thanks Jessica Mcdonald, who he'd met at the accademy, for that.
The only bump in his road to Starfleet as far as the accademy went was the near failing mark one Lieutenant Smithers had handed him, mostly to do with attitude and the ability to stay inside regulations--something he still avoids being used to doing.
Medical profile
Multiple broken bones, most of them having healed properly--the typical life of someone who's lived in the streets. the most recent injury is a broken arm, sustained during his final training mission.

*** NOTE ***
LT Jacob Mathews, SFA Medical:
As of the date of this amendment to Cadet Mckenzy's file (10006.27), he has exhibited no significant emotional damage given what we know of his father's passing. Psychiatric profile should be watched closely, however, until further notice.
Other
A scar above his left eye, roughly a quarter of an inch long.

"Assimilation is complete..."

The website and the ODN are no longer separate entities. No jumping from one site to the other to get information. We have added to our technological distinctiveness to become one. The process of rebuilding the front-end is still ongoing. Making "a" website... that's easy. Making a website that uses all our content over decades... that's hard.
