The closest thing she has to a child is her companion G'ruk, a sehlat that is not yet full grown, but still the size of a small bear...complete with 6" fangs and very sharp claws.
Family history
Her family has always lived in the mountainous region of the Tat'shar province on the continent of Na'nam. They were located between the oasis at Aba'kur and the active volcanoes near the Womb of Fire. It was a very long journey to the city of Ta'vistat, the only shuttle port in the province. Her people are considered a minority and are are looked down upon by most Vulcans because they are not followers of Surak. Her father taught her how to follow the path of Jarok. The path of Jarok (Tu-Jarok) is one that embraces emotion. They try to control their emotions by understanding them. Her mother taught her the art of kareel-ifla, a form of martial art, and she uses it to unite mind and body to put her in touch with her pach-te, the strongest of all desires and the root of all emotion that dwells deep within. In ancient times practitioners of kareel-ifla were often considered to be ruthless, savage brutes, and in many Vulcan eyes the style has an unsavory reputation even today. However, it's impossible to deny its effectiveness. Like many Vulcans, they used domesticated sehlats for many purposes and J'het grew up closely surrounded by such creatures. Her family has lived in this way since the "time of the beginning." Although her people do not suffer from the pon farr, she had chosen a mate and married. Unfortunately, he was killed in one of the rare volcanic eruptions in the area. In spite of the cold treatment of a Vulcan outcast, she was extremely bright and curious. A scientist who was investigating some ruins in their area of the mountains needed a guide and while helping this scientist, she was convinced to leave her home and attend the Vulcan Academy.
Education
Studied for several years at the Vulcan Science Academy. Her field of study was primarily physics, but she is also versed in astro-physics, spacial-dynamics and xeno-biology. Her minor fields involved some engineering and experience as a tactical officer. She spent some time on a number of Vulcan ships, which gave her a love for space. She has some limited piloting skills, has assisted as a security team member a number of times and her knowledge of sensors has made her useful at tactical stations when needed. Her real skills are in science, but maintaining sensor arrays, deflector assemblies, and assisting in modifications to warp drives to compensate for spatial distortions has given her a working knowledge of engineering that is impressive. Warp propulsion is a sub-field of spacial dynamics, so she had to study it in detail, though she does not have as much time with hands on as a dedicated engineering expert normally has under their belt. She is not shy when things need to be fixed though, as many Vulcan ships have relatively small crews and on science ships one needs to be very versatile. She entered the Starfleet Academy in hopes of better use of her skills and a more tollerant work atmosphere than with her fellow Vulcans. After being assigned as an EO to the Broadsword, she eventually became the CEO and quickly increased her working knowledge of Engineering. Her leadership abilities worked her into the XO role and eventually became the CO of the ship she had originally been assigned to.
Medical profile
Other than being shorter than a normal Vulcan, she is very much like them anatomically. She would seem abnormal in that she does not suffer from the cyclic pon farr, since her people have never rejected their emotions, only learned how to control them. She has a number of scars from growing up since dermal regenerators were not common. She has no history of serious illness or injuries, though she has had a number of mionor strains, twists and sprains due to her agressive practice of her martial art in private. She is very athletic and her size allows more acrobatic feats than her larger and more logical kin. Unfortunately, she doesn't always land perfectly and like any practitioner of martial arts, she has her share of related lessons learned. Other than that, due to the aging of Vulcans, she is aproximately the equivalent of a human in their mid to late twenties and is in good health.
Ammendment: Injuries sustained in the line of duty include several damaged ribs and some internal organ damage. She was also stabbed in the chest on another mission. Proper medical attention has corrected all of these injuries and she was returned to duty after each event.

Other
Much about her appearance is not typically Vulcan. She is more athletic in appearance, shorter, light haired and bright eyed. Her ears have such a subtle point to them as to allow her to be mistaken for a human of about 25 at first glance. Her muscle density accounts for her weight. She also has some tribal tattoo markings, but they are unable to be seen when she is in uniform.
