Dr Teregrif Mallan

Teregrif was rescued from a freighter full of political refugees that managed to limp into Federation space from the Cardassian Union when he was three months old by the Hope-class medical frigate USS Al-Shakeel. Although his name was marked, no relatives of his were aboard and several months later Starfleet Intelligence learnt that his parents, prominent democratic activists, had been executed by the Obsidian Order. It is assumed that they had worked to have their son smuggled out to political asylum in the Federation. Two old friends of the captain of the Al-Shakeel adopted Teregrif, and he gained Federation citizenship. He was raised in England, Earth. It is assumed that any remaining biological relatives of his did not survive the harrowing of Cardassia by the Dominion, although he has expressed little interest either way in his Cardassian heritage, something which worries his adoptive parents.
