Youngest of four siblings (three older sisters), all of whom followed in the footsteps of their mother, Lena, who is a biologist studying marine life on various planets throughout the galaxy. James (his preferred name to go by despite it being his middle name) preferred the influence of his father, who worked in Interplanetary Trade and Security. Wanting to explore the galaxy in his own way, James applied to Starfleet where he demonstrated aptitudes for tactics and engineering.
James attended Starfleet Academy and graduated with honors. He has a deep interest in the Eastern cultures of Earth, in particular feudal Japan, but also China and others. He has engaged in extensive study of The Art of War and the Code of Bushido, but sees these more as a guiding influence on his life rather than hard and fast laws for living. He is well trained in hand to hand combat, including several martial arts.
James has no medical restrictions or problems.
